Waste Management
In 2024, STARLUX Airlines’ waste primarily consisted of general waste and general business waste. The total waste generated was 1,007.66 tons, an increase of approximately 55% compared to 651.10 tons in 2023, while waste intensity decreased by 2% from 2023. This increase was mainly due to the continued expansion of STARLUX Airlines’ operations, including the activation of additional operational sites and offices in 2024, as well as the inclusion of waste generated at overseas locations. Growth in flight operations and passenger numbers also contributed to a significant increase in revenue.
General waste, mostly from office activities such as daily trash and recyclables, accounted for 87.97% of total waste, up 50% from 2023. General business waste made up 12.03% of total waste, primarily consisting of waste paper, scrap metals (iron and aluminum), plastic, and glass, which represent 77.39% of general business waste. Remaining hazardous waste came from a small amount of battery replacements.
